Main duties of the job
To act as a skilled practitioner
within the Emergency Department, supporting team leaders to ensure that the
highest quality of care is given to patients. Ensuring that all clinical
practice is evidenced based, in accordance with local and national standards
for good practice.
To support the Senior
Sister or in the absence of take a lead role in Coordinating, planning and
delivery of individualized care provided by the team in ED ensuring efficient
management of the department.
Take
a lead role in facilitating, education, supervising, supporting and developing
qualified and unqualified staff.

To take responsibility for
the assessment, planning and implementation and evaluation of nursing care
without supervision
To liaise, involve and

clinical Governance agenda both locally and nationally
To ensure that own nursing

clinical skills in a structured and coordinated way in line with NMC
professional standards in order to improve patient care.

supervisor/mentor/preceptor as required within boundaries of competence and

Undertake Clarity appraisal
and Personal Development planning with designated team leader.
Ensure all clinical
procedures are performed according to agreed protocols (inclusive of PGDs)
standards and procedures as set by the department and the Trust.
Participate in the internal
rotation and be flexible to the needs of the service.
To be innovative in the
approach to care and proactively support the senior nurse/matron in the
development of practice and team working.
To take managerial
responsibility for the Emergency Department in the absence of the senior
sister/charge nurse/ matron on a shift basis.
To participate in the
delivery of care within agreed budgets developing an awareness of cost
implications.
