Job summary
The post holder will provide support to the Acute
Intervention team practitioner carrying out and assigning clinical tasks and
associated administrative duties.
The post holder will work as part of a team as well as
undertaking routine acute intervention team tasks without direct supervision
following a period of induction and participate in the delivery of the acute
intervention team agenda.
The post is allocated a nominal base but also involves
working at other locations within and outside of the Trust.
The role requires an on-going commitment to
Personal and People development both colleagues and clients, and (with
seniority) an increasing responsibility for service improvement and quality.
Main duties of the job
Good standard of general education
NVQ level 3 in health care or equivalent.
Working knowledge of Microsoft word and excel or similar
software packages
Must
possess certificates or be willing to undertake training in: ECG recording,
phlebotomy and cannulation.
Ability to demonstrate reasonable literacy and numeracy
skills
Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality at all times
Ability to work on own initiative with limited supervision
Able to communicate with clinical staff and clients and deal
sensitively and confidentially with situations
Demonstrate the ability to prioritise workload in order to
meet deadlines

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Follows standard procedures and guidelines and uses
analytical and judgement skills to assess patients who are acutely unwell.
Respond to emergency calls within the organisation as an
active member of the team.
Perform Task allocation within the Acute Intervention Team
utilising EPR
Carries out ECG recording (with appropriate training).
Carry out continuous monitoring of acutely unwell patients.
Support ward staff with the care of acutely unwell patients.
Support ward staff with the transfer of acutely unwell
patients to higher levels of care (if necessary).
Perform cannulation and venepuncture when required (with
appropriate training)
Provides general assistance to the medical and nursing staff
Supports nursing and medical staff in the management of
clients
ADMINISTRATION DUTIES
Retrieves information from the computer system with regard
to pathology results
Maintains an effective filing system ensuring that documents
are filed and stored appropriately
Maintains databases as required
Completes any audit required within the Acute Intervention
Team and supports senior staff with audit.
Maintains up to date clinical records under Trust and
departmental guidelines
TEAM WORKING
Works effectively as a member of the Acute Intervention Team
and establishes and maintains professional relationships within that team and
with all teams within the Organisation.
In conjunction with other team members, demonstrates
application of effective time management.
OTHER DUTIES
Maintains confidentiality in all matters at all times
