Job summary

The enthusiastic and motivated person will undertake the data management of a number of National Institute of Health Research [NIHR] portfolio studies. The post holder will be a member of the County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust research team and will be responsible for supporting research delivery staff. Responsibilities of the post include data management and research administrative support, as well as patient recruitment to observational studies as appropriate and patient follow-up, as needed for all NIHR portfolio clinical trial activities within the Trust. They should have excellent organisational and communication skills and have competent computer skills, and be familiar with Microsoft Access, Excel & Word. Attention to detail is essential.

The post is based at University Hospital North Durham; the post holder may be required to travel and work at other CDDFT Hospital sites.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities;

To assist with the acquisition and distribution of relevant trial documentation

To check eligibility of patients into trials and to ensure that all relevant data has been recorded.

To recruit patients into observational studies as appropriate.

To establish and maintain trial site files for each study in accordance with ICH GCP/the EU Directive and Research Governance

To assure process compliance with all regulatory and organisational procedural requirements for the portfolio of research studies within the Trust.

Collection of patient data from medical notes and completion of case record forms (CRFs) and to liaise with Research Study Sponsors, Research Nurses and Clinicians to ensure correct data collection

To transcribe /export data from medical records (paper or electronic) to CRFS (paper or electronic) as required by the study protocol

To assist in ensuring that protocol required tests/procedures are done according to the schedule in the specific protocol

To ensure safe filing and storage of study documentation and samples in accordance with ICH GCP and Research Governance
