Job summary
The Department of ENT is seeking a substantitive full time
(10 PA) Consultant to join an enthusiastic and forward thinking Department
which has six subsantive consultants.
Each consultant has a specialist interest which they are happy to
pursue. The Department is currently
involved in many exciting initiatives and are looking for an individuals with
appropriate specialist skills (thyroid disease) to complelement the existing
team and keep the service in the forefront of clinical excellence.
Main duties of the job
The applicant will be involved in managing general ENT
conditions with a special interest in thryoid surgery hence the need to attend
regional Thyroid MDT and comply with the guidance provided by the MDT. In addition:
To provide ENT emergencies that are managed in a DGH.
Involved in training specialist registrars, foundation
doctors and GP trainees.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
