YC73 Locum Consultant 12 Months Fixed Term post
The
successful applicant will work between the Intensive Care Unit and Theatres.
There will be an on call commitment as part of the ICU rota. This is a
fantastic opportunity to continue your career
in Anaesthesia in a supportive and enthusiastic district general
hospital.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role are to provide consultant led
anaesthetic care for patients, both in elective and emergency settings and also
have sessions in Intensive Care Medicine.
On call commitment is 1:12 and is solely for Intensive Care.
On Call for Theatres and Obstetrics is provided by a separate consultant
anaesthetist although there is always good communication and teamwork between
all resident and non-resident staff on call. Paediatric stabilisations are
covered by both groups with the first responder responsibility being shared on
alternating rota. On calls for ICM at the weekend are usually 12 hr split
shifts with the night consutlant cross covering the morning to provide dual
consultant support. On call resident doctors work a 3 tier rota
with team work encouraged between the anaesthetic and ICM teams, at least 2 of
the resident on call team will have advanced airway skills. Senior resisidents maintain clinical priority
to provide obstetric over.
