Inpatient Physiotherapy Assistant

This is an exciting opportunity to join the well established inpatient physiotherapy team at University Hospital North Durham. This post is a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

We are recruiting for a full time band 3 physiotherapy assistant.

We are looking for an enthusiastic applicant to join our team. You will work alongside Physiotherapy

staff and the wider MDT and your development will be supported by senior staff working within these

areas. Outstanding organisation and communication skills are required in order to support with the

rehabilitation of patients

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work as part of the wider physiotherapy team to provide inpatient

rehabilitation to clients in a range of settings within inpatients at UHND. The role has a 7 day working

requirement.

The successful applicant will work independently and as part of the team to provide physiotherapy

treatment to clients on the stroke, medical, surgical, frailty and orthopaedic wards, working alongside other physiotherapists and assistants.

They will also carry out administration tasks to support the service.

Supporting the inpatient physiotherapy team as an assistant will involve working with physiotherapists,

other physiotherapy assistants and members of the MDT, as well as working independently to carry out treatment plans provided by the physiotherapist.

The patients will have a wide range of conditions and require a range of physiotherapy treatment

including providing walking aids and carrying out mobility and strength rehabilitation with the aim of

supporting patients to safely return home or support discharge flow into the community hospitals for

further rehabilitation.
