Job summary
An
exciting opportunity has arisen for an Endoscopy Booking Waiting List Officer
to join the Central Appointments team at Darlington Memorial Hospial or The
Greenhouse working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
You will be responsible for
adding patients to the endoscopy waiting list, arranging Pre-Assessment
appointments and theatre scheduling within the Trusts agreed timescale.The post also includes managing other administrative
tasks associated with managing a diagnostic elective waiting list.
You must ensure the
patients are dealt with courteously and promptly at all times. This will be
done either face to face or by telephone.
This
post includes the ability to hybrid work (office and home working).

Main duties of the job
Adding
patients to the Endoscopy Waiting List in accordance with policies and
procedures.
To manage a number of
waiting lists within specialties operating Trustwide in accordance with
Government Access Standards, NHS Constitution and Trusts Patient Access Policy
ensuring efficient and effective use of theatre sessions.
Informing
patients of any cancelled admissions/appointments and arranging a new date and
time taking into account personal, confidential and sensitive information this
requires persuasive skills to encourage people to attend urgently or at short
notice and also advise and explain the process criteria for each hospital site.

skills, liasing with consultants, nurse practitioners, patients, GPs and admin
staff. Being familiar with and working
with diagnostic and 18 week targets to ensure timescales and target dates are
met.
Frequent contact with
patients and relatives where the patients has been diagnosed with cancer. Dealing with confidential and sensitive
information requiring effective communication skills in distressing and emotional
circumstances.
Making sure information
from pro-forma and letters are up to date and uploaded onto the patient
electronic medical record.
Monitoring waiting list to
ensure all patients are available to proceed with surgery and patients are
removed in line with waiting list policies and procedures also informing
patients in a sensitive manner and ensuring GPs are informed.
To
have a flexible approach to the department demands and to assist where
appropriate in the provision of cover for other colleagues during sickness and
