We are seeking individuals to work as a Clinical Trials Coordinator in our department of Pathology. The role is a dual one, working predominately as a clinical trials coordinator but there is an element of working in the laboratory alongside the Biomedical Scientists and working closely with colleagues in Reception, as part of the team

Main duties of the job

Main tasks include:

Clinical trials duties: Coordination of Clinical Trials, including attendance at start up meetings and the writing up a SOPs and reports.

Associate Practitioner duties: Maintaining and running automated analysers in accordance with laboratory protocols, loading QC material as required, performing some manual tests and recording the results. Booking patient samples on to the Laboratory Computer System and ensuring the correct test requests are inputted, Centrifuging samples and correctly loading the samples on to the relevant laboratory analysers. In both aspects of the roles, you will be required to assist in the training and competency assessment of staff, to enable them to work safely and in accordance with Standing Operating Procedures.

Although not required on a frequent basis, there will be times when you will deputise for pathology reception team leader in their absence

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
