Cancer Pathway Coordinator

The closing date is 05 September 2025

Job summary

An exciting opportunity for someone who has experience in managing cancer patient pathways, either as part of a cancer services team or another speciality to join our team in Cancer Services.

This post is full time for 37.5 hours and will be based at University Hospital of North Durham but you may be required to work on-site at Darlington Memorial Hospital during training and to cover for team members, possibly one day a week.

Our team is currently working under Agile working agreements, working a mix of on-site and remotely from their home base and once fully trained the post holder will also adopt this working pattern.

Main duties of the job

Your primary responsibilities will be to track and navigate cancer patients through their pathway to ensure that they are diagnosed and treated within relevant timescales. You will ensure effective co-ordination of pathways for patients with suspected or diagnosed cancer and that information is recorded accurately for Cancer Waiting Times targets. You will ensure that a patient's journey is seamless and will make a valuable contribution to the improvement of both quality and experience.

You will provide comprehensive administrative support for Cancer Site-Specific MDT meetings, collating lists of patients to be discussed and collecting information required. You will need to work to tight deadlines so that MDT members are notified in advance and can prepare for their role in the meeting. Confidence to control the use of video conferencing systems and to record clinical decisions live in the MDT meetings is essential so you will be confident in your knowledge and spelling of medical terminology.
