Job summary
Provide dermatology care to patients in a community setting
with some sessions in secondary care for continuing professional development.
To work as part of an integrated team working
with other GPSWIs and specialist nurses and clinicians in secondary care
delivering care to dermatology patients within the service.
Main duties of the job
Clinical
To provide clinical assessment and dermatology care to meet
patients urgent clinical needs.
Dermatology care provided should in line with current
medical practice and where possible evidence based guidelines and PCDS
guidelines.
To maintain contemporaneous electronic records.
To work with other health care professionals and services to
deliver care to meet patients clinical, social and transport needs.
Be flexible and responsive to the clinical needs of patients
and operational needs of the service.
Education and Training
To establish a personal development programme that includes
the development of skills related to the role of the GPsWI in dermatology.
To participate in annual appraisal within Trusts appraisal
system.Research/Audit.
To participate in clinical audit in dermatology department
at CDDFT.
Personnel
To support GPs in training and other health care
professionals in their developing roles, providing supervision of practice and
training as required.
To support and actively promote the integration of services
within community dermatology and secondary care.
To adhere to Trust policies and procedures.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
