Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Medical Directorate, providing robust and efficient systems for the management of doctors appraisal and revalidation as required by both the General Medical Council and the Trust. The successful applicant will work closely with clinicians, operational managers and colleagues within workforce and organisational development to ensure appraisals are conducted on schedule, with all supporting documentation available. Working with the wider team, you will ensure that appraisals are of a high quality, aligned to national standards. Development and delivery of training will be a key part of this role, including training all new appraisers and ensuring refresher training is provided as required. You will be expected to support projects, policy work and system developments.
Main duties of the job
Ensure effective appraisal and revalidation system is in place, and continually reviewed and updated in line with General Medical Council, national and Trust guidance. The post holder will be responsible for the overall management of medical appraisal, which includes pro-actively monitoring and managing the appraisal system, to ensure appraisals are completed within the required timeframe and any postponements agreed and documented. They will maintain accurate records on GMC Connect in relation to associated doctors and ensure any recommendations made by the Responsible Officer are made prior to the revalidation date. In support of a quality appraisal, the successful applicant will manage the quality assurance process, providing reports to relevant committees, supporting the Medical Appraisal Lead in providing feedback and developing Trust wide action plans as necessary. This is a senior position within the Medical Directorate, and the post-holder will be expected to work independently within the framework provided
