The post holder will provide leadership and direction to the staff within their direct line management to ensure delivery of safe, high-quality care in line with the organisational strategic vision to meet the needs of the Public Health agenda. The post holder must be able to motivate teams to reach their full potential by provision of exemplary line management skills. The post holder will work with the Community Midwifery Matron closely, to ensure clinical teams maintain excellent standards of care, including the delivery of the key interventions which support the Public Health Agenda. The post holder will be highly visible and accessible to staff, patients and visitors and be able to assist where issues cannot be resolved by senior nursing and midwifery colleagues. Effective line management of senior midwifery colleagues within the area for which they are responsible is fundamental in order to support a culture of consciousness to deliver financial balance and achievement of efficiencies.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for management of the specialist midwifery posts relating to the management area, such as the Infant Feeding Team. A key element of this role is developing and supporting multidisciplinary clinical leadership within the clinical governance framework and support the development of evidence based guidelines/protocols for maternity. An expectation of the role will be to embed and maintain high clinical standards, audit compliance and to ensure the delivery of the public health agenda and associated KPI is achieved. Offering senior midwifery input into supporting the establishment of Family Hubs in County Durham, to support key areas such as parent-infant mental health, development of Family Hubs to improve access to a wide range of integrated support services, breastfeeding support services and evidencebased parenting programmes. Work with commissioners and partners on integrated pathways and ways of working across the system including the priorities in the Best Start in Life work plan and the Pre-Birth and Under Ones group.

We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
