A
rare opportunity has arisen to join the Clinical Decisions Unit/Surgical SDEC
at UHND, we are looking to recruit a
part time health care assistant to work alongside our established team of
advanced nurse practitioners, health care assistants and admin staff in our
busy surgical unit. This position is for 24hours, which will be 2 12hour shifts
per week, we are open from 0730-2000 365 days per year including weekends and
bank holidays.
You
must be confident dealing with patients and staff, approachable, a team player
and computer literate, our unit provides same day emergency care for general surgical
issues, we also provide aftercare for complex surgical patients post discharge
and run a daily dressings clinic.
As

successful candidate must strive to always provide the best patient care and
experience posible in line with our units vision.
Main duties of the job
As a HCA within surgical SDEC you will work
under the guidance of the advanced nurse practitioners, you will do clinical
observations, urinealysis, ECG's, venepuncture and cannulation as required for
each patient who attends the unit. You will also play a key role in the management
of the dressings clinic, training will be provided but experience/knowledge of
wound care would be advantageous. You will need to be able to use EPR systems
such a powerchart to document patient encounters and also revenue cycle to
admit and transfer patients. Surgical experience/knowledge would also be
advantegous, as would experience of working in emergency care. You must be keen
to learn but able to use your own initative and also work well under pressure
as the unit can be very busy, being able to priortise tasks is essential.

We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
