An
exciting opportunity has arisen for a staff nurse to join our established
Anticoagulation Service based at Bishop Auckland General Hospital. The
Anticoagulant Team provide a commissioned Warfarin monitoring and dosing
service within the locality of County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation
Trust. We are a small, well established team and the post-holder will have the
ability to work autonomously and as part of the team.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic Registered Nurse who is
interested in supporting patients on therapeutic Warfarin. The post-holder will
be involved in monitoring and dosing patients taking Warfarin; this can be
within the clinic setting or supporting patients who are self-testing,
facilitating the patient's independence and self-management. The post-holder will deal with telephone
inquiries from patients, carers, GPs and other health professionals in relation
to the Anticoagulation Service and have experience in working with the wider
multi-disciplinary team.
The role requires the applicant to have or develop effective
decision making skills and they will be supported by the Anticoagulation Sister
and General Outpatient Department Manager in their development within the role.
The role may involve running clinics across the County and requires the
post-holder to be able to travel freely across Trust sites when appropriate.
The role involves using a variety of IT software
including the DAWN warfarin dosing system to appropriately manage patients
within the Service. The successful applicant must have established computer
skills with the ability to learn and develop within the role
