Main duties of the job
Clinical Care:
Provide
skilled nursing care to children and young people with a variety of acute and
emergency presentations.
Conduct
triage, assessments, and initiate appropriate treatment plans.
Recognise
and manage deteriorating patients, escalating concerns appropriately.
Administer
medications safely, following hospital guidelines.
2. Leadership
& Supervision:
Support
junior nurses, student nurses, and healthcare assistants through supervision,
teaching, and mentorship.
Act as a
shift leader when required, ensuring safe staffing levels and effective patient
flow.
Work
collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team, including doctors, advanced
practitioners, and allied health professionals.
3. Communication
& Teamwork:
Maintain
clear, accurate documentation and effective handovers.
Communicate
sensitively with children, families, and carers, providing reassurance and
support.
Advocate
for patients and ensure safeguarding concerns are appropriately managed.
4. Professional
Development & Governance:
Participate
in training, audits, and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Maintain
up-to-date clinical skills and mandatory training
