Job summary
The post holder will be joining a dynamic and
friendly medical team to develop and embed high quality care for older patients
in a number of different clinical settings alongside the existing speciality
doctor and consultant team. We have established acute front of house frailty
team, acute complex frailty wards, specialist movement disorder service,
ortho-geriatrics, surgical liaison, general geriatric clinics and falls/syncope
and Tilt clinic. As a result we are able to explore a candidates interest and
try to tailor a post to their development, appreciating that a doctor working
in a team within their area of interest is a valuable asset in driving forward
service development and high quality. Therefore, applicants must have suitable
training and an interest or wishing to gain experience in Geriatric Medicine
The post holder will have
appropriate training as outlined in the job specification and a well -developed
medical knowledge, allowing the ability and confidence to function decisively
and autonomously. Candidates should be hard-working, dependable, collegial, and
professional in keeping with GMC good medical practice.

must be fully registered with a GMC license to practice.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join a team providing high
quality care for medical patients within the elderly care / frailty service.
Support
and develop the acute front of house frailty assessment unit, acute complex
frailty unit, frailty specialist units and rehabilitation wards.
Support
outreach services to surgical, orthopaedic and medical wards.
Liaise
between nurses, junior doctors, multi-disciplinary teams, patients, relatives
and senior medical teams.
Attend and
participate in ward rounds as timetabled.
Attend and
contribute to liaison activity in acute frailty, orthogeriatric.
Attend
outpatient clinics.
Study for
higher examination where needed and maintain continued professional development.
Attend
weekly educational and multidisciplinary sessions.
Participate
in the teaching and training programmes for Junior Staff and Postgraduate
Medical.
Participate
in QI/audit programme.
To
supervise and manage junior medical staff depending on experience.
