This is an exciting opportunity to join a large and
innovative team within County Durham and Darlington, with approximately 4200
deliveries per year across both sites.
We are looking to recruit a Consultant Obstetrician and
Gynaecologist. This is a permanent post.We are looking for someone with
generalist skills but there will be opportunity and support to further develop
skills through working closely with colleagues in specialist areas. ATSMs in , Benign Abdominal Surgery, and
Hysteroscopy and TOP as well as advanced ANcare are particularly welcomed.
The post will involve a weekly gynaecology and
ANC and a Caesarean Section list. The gynaecology clinics will be diagnostic
clinics with both diagnostic and surgical hysteroscopy capability, There will
be opportunity for gynaecology theatre sessions either under supervision or
independently dependent on the post-holders level of experience. Daytime Labour Ward will be one 24 hour day in
three weeks and the weekend Rota is split weekends, 1:55
Main duties of the job
Weekly ANC, Diagnostic and treatment gynaecology clinics,
advice and guidance for GP's, Triage. More specialist clinic or sessions
negotiable dependent on interests and experience, and needs of the department
(eg Vulval clinic, menstrual disorders clinic, TOP service, Caesarean section
list, etc). Gynaecology theatre
sessions, either independent or supervised, dependent on level of experience
and wishes. Obstetric and Gynaecology on
call.
The post holder will participate in the Tier 3
non-resident on-call rota at Darlington Memorial hospital. This is also
currently a 1:11 frequency. In addition
the postholder will be required to provide educational supervision for the
resident doctors in the deparment, provide teaching sessions and occasionally
support the undergraduate teaching
