Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated,
hardworking individual to join our Paediatric Ward. Ward Clerks provide clerical support to inpatients
receiving medical and surgical treatment, dealing with queries from patients,
visitors and staff and work alongside experienced Children's nurses and medical
teams in the of Darlington Memorial Hospital, providing excellent care to
children and young people.
There will be opportunities to develop new
skills and knowledge, through training and development provided. You will be supported by the existing admin
and nursing staff to ensure patients and their familes receive the best care in
line with our trust values.
Main duties of the job
To
receive patients and visitors to the ward.
To input
patient admission, attendance, transfer and discharge data to the necessary
patient
administration & information systems, ensuring patient
and GP details are accurate and updated as necessary To arrange patient follow
up and other appointments, as required
To
provide administrative support to out-patient/ward-based clinics, as required
To deal
with telephone enquiries, taking and conveying messages appropriately
To sort
incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail for posting
To
prepare patient admission packs, as necessary
To
maintain and update the EPR system
To
maintain accurate ward bed board
To
maintain ward staff board
To
maintain ward information board
Photocopying
as required
To
maintain adequate levels of ward stationery and supplies, using CARDEA as
required
To
requisition repairs as necessary

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
