We are delighted to share the
opportunity of a vacancy for a full time band 5 staff nurse to join the
endoscopy team at Darlington Memorial Hospital. We welcome both experienced and
newly qualified staff nurses.
Within endoscopy no two days are
the same, we are looking to recruit highly motivated, dynamic, forward thinking
nurses who will help to provide a safe high quality service to patients trust
wide.
The endoscopy service provides a range of
diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for both in patients and out patients
carried out within our twp procedure rooms.
Main duties of the job
We provide a detailed and
supported training programme to ensure all competencies are achieved and assessed
via knowledge and practice. When you join the endoscopy team we would ensure a
mentor is allocated who would hold regular meetings with their trainee to
guarantee a friendly and supported working environment. Your mentor would
support you through all areas of the endoscopy training programme. Theses
responsibilites include admitting patients onto the unit and consenting them
for non theraputic procedures. Supporting sedated and unsedated patients
through the recovery process and discharing them giving detailed information
about their test and their diagnosis. The endoscopy nurse would also learn how
to support the patient in the procedure room, monitorning their condition,
drawing up and administrating medication.They would also be responsible for
supporting the endoscopist who is performing the procedure this includes taking
biopsies, assisting with poly removal and also supporting various therapeutic
procedures in the latter stages of their training.
There are numerous career progression avenues within
the service including becoming a nurse endoscopist, senior nurse or sprcialist
nurse within one of the multidisciplinaryteams we work closely with. If you
