This is an exciting opportunity for Specialty Doctor role
for medical staff who wish to maintain and enhance their emergency medicine
skills and experience. You will be part of a vibrant and dedicated Emergency
Department (ED) team, working on the shop floor.
You will be given the opportunity to develop an interest in
trauma management and acute resuscitation.
There is an opportunity for the successful candidate to
explore a specialist interest relating to Emergency Medicine in their SPA time.

Main duties of the job
To act as Team Leader in the resuscitation of seriously
traumatised patients and those with critical illness.
To share with colleagues responsibility for the day-to-day
management of the Emergency Department
To have responsibility for and actively participate in
continuing professional development (CPD) utilising a minimum of 1 PAs a week
for self-direct study.
The new appointees will be expected to join the middle
grade body in leading by example, managing the sickest patients, engaging with
the juniors to ensure safe and timely management and working with the nursing
staff to ensure adequate patient flow. They will not be left as the most senior
doctor in the ED.
For management purposes and use of resources the post
holders will be accountable to the clinical lead and will ensure the effective
and efficient use of resources allocated.
The appointee will be expected to provide cover when
colleagues are on annual and study/professional leave.
Research activities which are considered to be
an inherent part of normal clinical duties will be encouraged and limited
research funding may be available following successful application to the local
research and development
