We
are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Specialist Cardio-respiratory Healthcare
Science Practitioner / Specialist Physiologist / Clinical Scientist to work as
part of our friendly team providing a diagnostic Cardio-respiratory and Sleep service
. The successful applicant will also be required to provide other physiological
tests offered by the department. The principal
hospitals within CDDFT are Darlington Memorial Hospital, University Hospital of
North Durham, Bishop Auckland Hospital and Shotley Bridge Hospital. The Cardiology & Respiratory
Investigations Units comprise a team of approximately 40 staff who provide a
broad range of procedures including echocardiography, stress echocardiography, TOE,
angiography, pacing implant / follow-up, device follow up, tilt, nerve
conduction, lung function testing, sleep studies and nerve conduction studies.
We are actively developing services and encourage personal development / extension
of roles. The hospital base for this post is Bishop Auckland Hospital however
you will regularly be required to work at the University Hospital of North
Durham and Darlington Memorial Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work as part of a team in the
Cardio-Respiratory departments. They
will be a specialist in cardio-respiratory physiology and sleep science, and
will provide delivery of the highest quality cardio-respiratory and sleep
services. They will work closely with colleagues
to ensure that protocols and procedures meet local and national requirements for
good practice and service delivery. They will provide a range of respiratory
and some cardiology investigations, as well as nerve conduction studies, and will
produce evidence-based clinical reports.
They will provide training to other healthcare professionals and
students and will supervise junior staff, as well as deputise for more senior
staff on occasions.
Main roles and responsibilities:
Perform Full Pulmonary Function Testing, including MIP and
MEP measurements, bronchodilator response, FeNO and CPET and 6MWT
Document Quality Control measures on Specialist Equipment,
highlighting trends and correcting errors.
Fit and analyse home sleep polygraphy
Support the implementation of new respiratory services
within the trust.
Peform some cardiac investigations and nerve
conduction studies.
