Community Services are looking to recruit a second Clinical General Manager within nursing services having been awarded a new contract. This is an exciting role supporting Nuring Community Services and ultimately working to ensure and improve service delivery and quality of care.

The role will work closely with the Associate Director of Nursing and other Clinical General Manager as well as with the matrons and teams within the care group and others both within and outside of the wider care group and Trust. The role will provide leadership and management and having overarching responsibility for the services it covers. The postholder will provide clinical advice and support, line management and will have key roles in relation to human resource management, financial management, business planning, service development and quality. The postholder will cross cover other services as required and will participate in the weekend community on call rota

Main duties of the job

Clinical General Managers are expected to work for the clinical and business success of their services and the Care Group as well as contribute to the corporate success of the Trust. This will include participation in the development of Care Group policies, operational plans as well as initiating change in services in line with Board decisions as directed by the Care Group Triumvirate. The post holder, as a member of a second tier triumvirate, will, with their Clinical Director and Matrons, ensure that the development of their services is congruent with evidenced best practice and the strategic direction of the Care Group and Trust.

Manage Staff

Accountable as the lead manager for services managed by the second level triumvirate, managing all staff employed.

Be conversant with all Trust Human Resource policies and procedures and to be responsible for the recruitment process within the services managed

Ensure there are effective systems and process to identify service /staff training needs, with particular account of the requirements of the Knowledge and Skills Framework, and identify how to meet these, in conjunction with the training department

Responsible for implementation of corporate and mandatory training for all staff within the service, and ensure that appropriate monitoring and recording is undertaken

Ensure attendance at Care Group Meetings and Senior Managers Trust meetings to enable the Clinical General Manager to act as a conduit to cascade information to staff and take feedback from staff to the Care Group and on to the Board.

Promote the achievements and activities of the services managed and the Care Group internally and externally and prepare marketing and public relations information

Lead and develop a culture where safe and high quality patient care is consistently delivered in the services managed

Contribute to and support clinical and managerial networks both internally and externally to the Trust

Produce, implement and evaluate channels of communication to canvas the views and concerns of all patients and carers
