Following service relocation and service improvement
projects CDDFT Wheelchair Services are recruiting to a variety of roles
including:
Stock Controller Band 3
Specialist Wheelchair Therapist Band 6
Advanced Wheelchair Therapist Band 7
We are looking for positive, enthusiastic and dynamic
individuals to fill these roles and contribute to the ongoing development of
this service.
Ahead of interviewing we will be inviting prospective
applicants to come to a drop in session in our new wheelchair services
department at Sedgefield Community Hospital to find out more about the service
and meet team members.
Drop in sessions for applicants will be held on 25/07/24
between 16:00 & 18:00.

Main duties of the job
The County Durham and Darlington Wheelchair & Specialist
Seating Service provides specialised assessment for adults and children with
mobility, postural and pressure care needs.
The Specialist Wheelchair Therapist will have specialist
knowledge and skills in the assessment and prescription of wheelchairs,
wheelchair accessories, postural support and pressure care.
They will work as an autonomous practitioner managing a
caseload of services users with routine and complex needs.
The will complete evidence based assessments and
interventions, using specialist clinical reasoning skills to carry out their
specialist role.
They will work alongside engineers, specialist seating and
product representatives to ensure every patient living with mobility, postural
and pressure care needs receives the most appropriate care within agreed time
frames.
They will participate in the ongoing development of the
Wheelchair and Special Seating Service.
The post holder will contribute to the education and
training for own discipline and for other professionals.
The post holder will evaluate and implement
evidence based practice and assist in developing clinical policies to improve
the standard of care.

Working within a small specialist team of therapists,
support staff and administrative staff.
Triage and appropriate prioritisation of service referrals
working to agreed time scales with appropriate management of waiting lists in
accordance with expected national standards.
Working closely with AHP central administration team to
ensure appropriate appointment allocation within agreed time frames.
Responsible for the specialist assessment of Adults and
Children for the provision of buggies, wheelchairs, active use chairs, powered
wheelchairs, pressure care cushions, postural seating and associated

Working in a clinic environment and various community

Develops specialist product knowledge including the ability
to select the most cost effective, long term, durable solutions that will meet
the clinical needs of individual service users.
Reviews and reflects upon own practice, identifying areas of

non-clinical) ensuring all areas are kept tidy and in line with health and
