Job summary

CDDFT Community TB contact tracing Nursing Service is pleased to advertise a permanant Community TB Nurse Specialist Lead post working within the Countywide service. The successful postholder will deliver all aspects of complex TB screening, contact tracing, diagnosis, management and treatment including neonatal vaccination, in out-patient clinics as well as in their own homes.

The successful candidate will utilise their outstanding organisation and communication skills to achieve best patient outcomes whilst being well supported by expert TB specialists to develop a range of competencies in delivering excellent TB care and support for this group of complex patients.

Main duties of the job

Commitment to work towards MSc or equivalent level of demonstrable experience.

TB Specialist Nurse Lead.

NMP

Physical assessment skills - TB holistic holistic assessment.

Complex caseload management.

Lead service change.

Collaborate with Regional and National Stakeholders plus the UK Health Security Agency.

Budget requisitioner and authoriser up to £1,000.

Manage small team of staff both clinical and admin.

Team clinical/prescribingsupervision.

Advise treatment and concordance through clinical checks, tablet counting and directly/video observed therapy.

Neonatal and high risk group BCG vaccinations.

Provide specialist knowledge of disease specific care pathways.

Provide advanced understanding of respiratory anatomy and pathophysiology and the function and management of TB diseases with ability to undertake a detailed holistic patient assessment including social and psychological well-being and progress treatment interventions and adapt interventions, within set protocols.

Eligible BCG vaccination administration for neonates, children and adults.

Review clinical results.

New entrant screening and contact tracing for all eligible patients.

Accurately record clinical data and understand its significance including heart rate and rhythm, respiratory rate, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, plus use of health related questionnaires and patient reported outcome measures.

Clearly understand the benefits of non-pharmacological interventions for TB disease including smoking cessation, weight management and nutrition, and, physical activity.

Promote health and healthy informed choices.

Possess awareness, knowledge and implementation of safeguarding processes in relation to children, vulnerable patients and carers.
