Job summary

The successful candidate will be expected to provide a high quality holistic health management for patients detained within Durham Constabulary Custody Suites and forensic service throughout the County Durham and Darlington area.

Total Healthcare requires a permanent Custody Care Practitioner to work within its existing team of Forensic Practitioners and Forensic Medical Examiners. The purpose of the role is to provide high quality holistic forensic healthcare to detainees in Police Custody Suites throughout County Durham and other non-custody locations.

The role requires a high level of autonomous confidence and a sound knowledge of forensic practices in order to provide the delivery of highly specialist healthcare to support the Criminal Justice System in collaboration with Durham Constabulary.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Total Healthcare Service. To provide healthcare services to detainees in Police Custody and in non custodial settings. Provide specialist advice to detainees, detention staff, Police Officers or any other person involved in the detention process.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
