Job summary

We are currently seeking a Community sister (band 6) to join our Community Nursing Team for Sedgefield based at Spennymoor. The team cover 8am until 9pm 7 days a week on a duty roster. The role involves providing holistic nursing care to adult patients in their own home or care home settings. Sucessful applicants will be required to hold a first level nursing registration with the NMC, additional training for non District nurses will be via a 2 year apprenticeship subject to next available funding.

Main duties of the job

The Community nursing team provide both planned and reactive care including Urgent Community Response. As a district nurse/community sister you will directly manage staff aligned to you, delivering hands on care and supporting the team with training and senior clinical knowledge.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
