Job summary

Are you a highly motivated individual who enjoys a challenge? Would you enjoy working in a busy and dynamic team responsible for the education and training of junior doctors and medical students for County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust? This is an excellent opportunity to use your proven administrative and organisational skills to enable the education and training of medical students and junior medical staff.

You will need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to establish strong working relationships with colleagues, junior doctors, medical professionals and other NHS staff to provide support and advice to all students and Doctors in Training, as well as producing high quality training programmes in conjunction with the clinical teaching team.

Main duties of the job

To support high quality administration processes across the Trust in accordance with agreed priorities, which ensure the delivery of Foundation and Specialty Training Programmes, in order to support trainees and trainers in the delivery of education and training, to support the terms of the Junior Doctor Contract (2016).

To support the work of the Guardian of Safe Working, Tutors and Trainers associated with the delivery of the Junior Doctor Contract (2016) and the management of associated committees and their administration, quality assurance developments, primary care meetings and the local Junior Doctors Forum.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Support the administration processes linked to the monthly KPIs programme for compliant rotas, quality assurance, allocation of resources and committee support for the delivery of high quality, safe medical education in clinical areas, for all doctors in training.

Cover the geographical area overseen by the Medical Education Department that is, County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust and to develop appropriate links working in partnership with Newcastle Medical School, Health Education England North East (HEE NE), Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Trust and local general practitioners.

Required to travel to all Trust sites.
