Ward 6 is a busy acute 32 bedded
general medical ward specialising in Diabetes/Endocrinology.

Main duties of the job
This post is for a qualified nurse
who wants to further their experience and leadership skills in nursing.
The post holder will be expected to deputise in the
Ward Managers absence and be able to supervise and co-ordinate other staff
members ensuring patient safety is maintained at all times.
They will be expected to demonstrate good
clinical skills and will be responsible for individualised care of patients.
They should be able to assist with education and supervision of learners. To facilitate early discharge planning
enabling appropriate arrangements to be in place for patients leaving hospital,
making referrals and providing information to community services, as required,
in order to achieve a safe and timely discharge from hospital. Demonstrate
compassion and empathy at all times.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
