We are currently looking for motivated and enthusiastic Healthcare assistants to join our community / District Nursing teams. The role involves providing professional and holistic nursing care to patients in their own homes or care setting.

We have various posts across the teams within County Durham and Darlington at the moment, with full time and some part time positions available.

localities covered are:

Sedgefield Ferryhill and Spennymoor

Shildon and Aycliife

Overnight District Nursing Team - Countywide

Main duties of the job

The role involves providing holistic nursing care to patients in their own homes and other environments such as 24 hr residential care. A wide range of nursing skills are required for the role, including but not limited to: venepuncture, wound care, administration of insulin, clinical investigations i.e. sample collection, ECGs. Training and support can be given to gain and further develop skills.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities

You will provide holistic care for patients in their own homes and other community settings, such as residential care homes. You will be working as part of the District Nursing team but will be expected to work alone with support from the wider team.

You will need to travel independently by car so a full UK driving license is required for this role.

For the Aycliffe and Shildon Team and Ferryhill and Spennymoor Team you will be expected to work between the hrs of 08:00am 21:00pm, we will offer various shift patterns which can be negotiated. Independent working will be required.

The Overnight Team you will be expected to work night shifts, the hours of this are 21:00pm 08:00am this is non-negotiable. You will be working alongside a RN overnight and be expected to drive long distances due to the areas we cover.

You will not be expected to work days and nights and will be asked in interview which role would be your preference.
