The Medical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), Unit at
Darlington Memorial Hospital is looking for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner to
join their forward thinking acute team.
This is an exciting time to join the medical SDEC, team at
Darlington Memorial Hospital as we continue to improve the process and
experience for patients who are admitted into Hospital for emergency care. If

It would place you as a member of a committed, caring and compassionate team,
who are supportive and knowledgeable about their specialty.
The successful candidate will have experience in
an acute hospital setting and be able to demonstrate a knowledge of caring for
patients with a wide range of medical conditions, including their nursing and
medical management. They will possess good organisational skills and be able to
contribute to the development of flexible working arrangements within the team.
Main duties of the job
You will work closely with our experienced and professional
team to assess, examine, diagnose, treat and discharge emergency medical
patients. Performing diagnostic and prognostic investigations following
clinical pathways, for example, DVT, PE, etc.
They will manage unpredictable patterns of work, accepting
referrals from health care professionals, triageing and prioritising patient
care according to clinical need and departmental workload.
They will work closely with Medical and Nursing
professionals Allied to Medicine teams in the trust to facilitate the prompt
evidence based treatment of patients.
Patients requiring urgent or emergency treatment will be
escalated appropriately to members of the clinical team or to other
specialities.
Clinical assessment, investigation, management, treatment
and follow on will be clearly documented and communicated with patients and
with other health care professionals to ensure patients receive streamlined and
evidence medical and nursing care.
They will act as clinical supervisor and role
model to other members of the medical SDEC nursing team Advice and guidance
will be provided to other health care professessionals
