Job summary
Ward 31 is DMHs Trauma and Orthopaedics Ward
(Non-Elective). This roles purpose is to provide administrative support to the
clinical ward team and direct queries to the most appropriate clinical person
on the ward. This role is a fundamental component to effective patient flow on
the unit. The role is also a key point of contact for patients, relatives,
carers and visitors
Main duties of the job

receive patients and
visitors to the ward
input patient admission,
attendance, transfer and discharge data to the necessary patient administration
& information systems, ensuring patient and GP details are accurate and
updated as necessary To arrange patient follow up and other appointments, as
required

deal with telephone enquiries, taking and
conveying messages appropriately
sort incoming mail and
prepare outgoing mail for posting
prepare patient admission
packs, as necessary
maintain temporary paper
patient records during admission, ensuring that each item is correctly barcoded
for scanning into the Electronic Clinical Document Management System (ECDMS)
maintain accurate ward bed
board (until e-obs system fully implemented)
maintain ward staff board
maintain ward information
board
To
liaise with staff bank regarding shifts requiring nursing/HCA cover, as
directed by the nurse in charge

To provide cover as required during absence of colleagues
