We are looking for an assistant to join our busy and friendly team. The successful candidate will assist with helpdesk enquires, data input and administration duties.

Main duties of the job

This is an opportunity to work within the Payroll and Pension Team supporting the delivery of monthly and weekly payroll and pension service to the Trust and its subsidiary company, CDD Services.Duties include input to ESR, administration of payroll and pension post, dealing with phone and email contact and submissions to the department.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Provide general admin services; e.g. Phone answering, personal and generic e-mails, correspondence, filing, and scanning. Deal with general enquiries and signpost and resolve

Input changes to ESR assignments and new starter hiring

Administration of retirement forms and other pension documents received into the department

To receive, date stamp and sort incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail for posting

Monitor stationary and order supplies using the Cardea system

Respond to routine written and verbal queries regarding earnings and other employment details within given timescales.

Maintain good knowledge of the E expenses system, to support service users.

Provide training to new and/or less experienced staff.

take part in Trust roadshows and awareness sessions

update Staffnet as requested

  • NVQ Level 2 in Payroll/Pensions/Business Admin or equivalent experience gained through work experience
  • Minimum 3 GCSE (Grade C/4) or equivalent qualification, or equivalent knowledge gained through work experience
  • Recognised IT Qualification or equivalent knowledge gained through work experience

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience working in Payroll and Pension function
  • Use of Microsoft Word Excel TEAMs
  • Working to deadlines

Desirable

  • Administration/secretarial/finance experience

Special Skills & Knowledge

  • Produce timely and accurate work
  • Data entry
  • Be able to organise and prioritise own work
  • Communicate effectively with professionals, Trust colleagues, Government Bodies and external agencies
  • Understand importance of confidentiality and information governance

  • Knowledge of NHS terms and conditions
