Job summary
Specialist post CCT knee surgery
fellowship.
Middle grade role shared between
specialist knee team , to provide post holder with the clinical skills required
to persue a consultant career with a specialist interest in soft tissue and
arthroplasty knee surgery.
Exposure and training in all arthroscopic knee
procedures, complex soft tissue and knee trauma, including knee dislocation and
complex proximal tibia fracturesurgery.
Exposure to all aspects of knee
arthroplasty including primary and revision surgery, patellofemoral and
unicompartmental knee replacement, and osteotomy surgery.
Participation in audit and teaching
Main duties of the job
Working at middle grade level for the
knee surgical team.
To undertake out patient clinics
and theatre sessions with consultant supervision.
To undertake independent out
patient clinics and dual operating lists as experience increases.
To provide day time trauma
provision including trauma clinic and lists with exposure to complex knee
trauma.
Undertake audit and service
improvement as part of BOA Future Leaders Programme.
To provide undergraduate and postgraduate training including specialist registrar
training.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
