Job summary

We are looking to recruit 2 clinical teaching fellows 0&G for a fixed term contract from August 2024 to August 2025 to support our O&G Rotations Including support for the wider Undergraduate MBBS programmes medical students years 1-5. There are:

1 post at Darlington Memorial Hospital

1 post at Prospect House (University Hospital of North Durham

This will provide the opportunity to teach and facilitate learning with a focus upon clinical reasoning, simulation and teaching within the clinical area. The Trust is a lead Education Provider for Newcastle Medical School. There will be opportunities to develop organisational and leadership skills, whilst working collaberatively with the clinical leads and the wider team in planning and designing timetables. Supporting the teaching and admin team with the facilitation of programmes and exam planning.

All fellows will be expected to travel to Newcastle Medical School to support exams and standard setting. To formatively assess students and commit to team exam marking.

Opportunities and support are available for education research experience and quality improvement projects.

Main duties of the job

To support the clinical leads in the planning and design of rotation programmes and to facilitate the day to day organisation

-To create teaching resources and deliver teaching sessions in both a classroom, virtual and clinical settings

-To support the planning of student exams and patient recruitment. To formatively and summatively assess students. Participate in OSCE , team marking of written exams and attend university exam standard setting.

-To be a professional role model for students, to support a tutor group with academic and pastoral support

- To attend simulation training in order to become part of the simulation faculty supporting simulation teaching for undergratuate medical students/ post grad trainees and health care professionals

- Funding of £2000 will be provided to support the application of the PG cert in medical education
