Job summary
Clinical audit fulfils a vital role within the NHS, it is
the tool that offers the greatest potential to assess the quality of care
routinely provided for NHS users and is a primary driver for improving the
quality, safety and deliver of patient care.
The clinical audit team supports the development and
delivery of the Trusts Quality and Clinical Audit Strategies and champions an
open, honest and inclusive culture. We aim to support our colleagues in
ensuring that patients receive the best possible care and to drive continuous
improvement and innovation, leading to Improvements to both staff and patient experience.
The post holder will work closely with staff at
all levels across the organisation to ensure that individual clinical audit
projects are undertaken in accordance with internal policies and external
requirements, that projects are completed, and that accurate records are
maintained. They will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of
these projects as well as improvement projects within the clinical audit team.
Main duties of the job
- To ensuring that clinical audit/quality improvement
projects are carried out effectively, and appropriate action plans are developed
to improve the service.
- Interrogation of Trust databases and other Trust data
sources to identify patients for inclusion in clinical audit and other audit
projects.
- Extraction and processing of data from case records,
registers and other sources
- Complete and/or monintor data entry on to various digital
platforms
- To maintain clinical audit documentation to ensure that it
is kept up to date
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by engaging
with internal QI activities
- Preparation of reports
- Support the production and maintenance of procedures,
presentations, templates, training materials and other documentation.
- Use initiative to resolve issues independently, while
escalating issues/ concerns to the line manager as appropriate.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

- NVQ level 3 or equivalent workbased experience.

- Evidence or recent/ongoing further education and training.
