Job summary
We are looking for a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to
join our friendly, dedicated and professional team but candidates currently
working towards their IBMS registration portfolio may be considered. The
successful candidate will be based within Clinical Biochemistry. Blood sciences
at CDDFT is a very busy laboratory with much to offer the successful candidate.
The job description is generic for all Blood
Sciences BMS staff and all necessary training will be provided but evidence and
experience in a UK Biochemistry laboratory is preferred. APPLICANTS PLEASE NOTE

Main duties of the job
The department operates a 24/7 shift system covering
dayshifts, late shifts, nightshifts weekends and Bank Holidays which the
successful applicant must participate in.
Cross-site cover will be required at the other
site to meet the needs of the service.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also
essential as is the ability to work within a team processing a high workload of
blood sciences specimens. The successful candidate will be expected to
participate in the 24/7 shift rota, and training will be provided on both sites
so the candidate must be able to travel as required.
The main automation in Biochemsitry is Siemens Advia and
Centaur technology, Menarini HbA1c analysers, Cobas e111. The LIMS is currently
provided by Clinisys Winpath.
Experience of the above is advantageous but not essential as
all necessary training will be provided.

Spring 2024 and there will be changes in instrumentation and LIMS.
