Whilst there will be a number of General Manager posts available, currently we have vacancies in Surgery and Medicine Care Groups. These are generic posts and will be subject to change depending on organisational need and individuals personal development.

General Manager - Plastics and Dermatology

Dermatology and Plastic Surgery are specialties within the Surgical Care Group. The departments currently provide services to the population of Durham, Darlington, North Yorkshire, Bishop Auckland, Sunderland and South Tyneside and Gateshead. Both departments work on a hub and spoke basis with the main hub based at the University Hospital of Durham (UHND) site with Plastics inpatient elective and trauma work also delivered at the UHND site. The two departments work collaboratively to deliver services and have recently improved pathways for skin cancer treatment.

General Manager - Patient Flow Services

The post-holder will provide leadership and operational management to all teams and services impacting on Patient Flow and will also work closely with the Urgent and Emergency Care General Managers to manage the day-to-day operations relating to flow across the Organisation ensuring robust escalation processes, systems of governance and financial management. The post-holder will work to support the effective and safe flow of patients from admission to discharge and take appropriate actions as required, to ensure high standards are achieved. The post holder will monitor performance both daily and over time and will implement appropriate actions to maintain/improve performance, lead the development of, and continual improvement of patient flow.

Following a recent management restructure we are looking to appoint a number of General Managers to join our operational team.

This is an exciting time to join the team at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust as we embed a new structure with a strong focus on compassionate leadership and the delivery of significant strategic objectives in the coming months and years.

From an acute Medicine perspective we are currently looking to transform our 5-day service model into a 7 day model focusing on parity of access to services to improve patient outcomes as well as improving patient, and staff, experience.

Having recently modernised the footprint of our Same Day Emergency Care facilities within both of our Emergency Departments, we are now in the process of co-locating our Urgent Care facility at University Hospital of North Durham. Recognising the need to ensure that we have a sustainable ED service for the future an exciting project has commenced to create a new Emergency Care Centre at the University Hospital of North Durham.

Due to our continued focussed work from an elective recovery perspective CDDFT is performing well against the national targets set by NHS England, with excellent performance in both diagnostic services and cancer too.

Having recently just secured a further 5 year contract for community services there is the continued opportunity to work closely with our partners within social services supporting people closer to home

Experience

• Significant experience within the Healthcare Sector at senior manager level including responsibility for planning and budgetary control for a directorate or service

• Proven track record of achieving challenging healthcare targets
• Experience of delivering programmes of change within an NHS setting

Special Requirements

• Able to travel independently across Trust sites and other locations to meet the requirements of the post
• Able to participate in an on-call rota
