Job summary
An exciting opportunity has become available to become part
of the Acute Intervention team as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
The applicant will need to be working at an advanced level
of practice, working autonomously in the assessment, diagnosis and management
of unspecified clinical conditions whilst providing operational leadership to
Bishop Auckland Hospital.
The post holder will work automously on a ward
at Bishop Auckland hospital between 9am and 5pm, and be team leader for any
emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The post also includes rotation onto
Darlington Memorial hospital and University of North Durham hospital sites to
provide further senior support on a Saturday and Sunday.
Main duties of the job
To ensure the patient is at the centre, reinforcing the
concept of a streamlined patient journey and improving the quality of care.
Working as an advanced nurse practitioner, providing a
prompt response to calls from ward nursing staff, prioritising urgency and
clinical need.
Assessing, diagnosing and treating, investigating,
prescribing, and determining immediate care management of patients
Acting as team leader during medical emergencies and
cardiac arrests and utilising an advanced knowledge base and advanced clinical
skills to manage patients in these situations.
Providing highly visible nursing leadership and advising on
operational issues as they arise
Making a significant contribution to patient flow through
the organisation
Acting as a patient safety and clinical quality champion,
ensuring that services delivered to patients are safe and of a high quality.
