Job summary
We
are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Healthcare Science Assistant
with Administrative Duties to work as part of our friendly team providing a
diagnostic Cardiology and Respiratory service to both in-patients and
out-patients. The post will also involve some administrative and reception
duties, including dealing with patient and staff queries, managing clinics on
the Trust IT systems and making and amending appointments. The principal
hospitals within County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust are
University Hospital of North Durham, Darlington Memorial Hospital, Bishop
Auckland Hospital and Shotley Bridge Hospital. The Cardiology and Respiratory
Investigation Units provide a broad range of invasive and non invasive
procedures. We are committed to

combining both clinical and administrative work.
Main duties of the job
The
successful candidate will work as part of a team in a busy Cardio-Respiratory
Department.
As a department, we pride
ourselves on the quality of diagnostic services we provide for patients. You should have a good understanding of, or
have experience of working in a medical environment and have the ability to
remain calm, especially in stressful situations. Ideally, you should be
technically competent to perform 12 lead ECGs, as well as a number of other
basic diagnostic procedures but this is not essential. Experience of reception
and administrative work would also be useful. You should enjoy training other
staff.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
