Job summary

An exciting position is available in the Emergency Department, Darlington Memorial Hospital for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner to assess patients, to develop, plan, implement and monitor care. To provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues and maintains appropriate records.

The Advanced Nurse Practitioner will be a lead specialist in a defined area of nursing care and provides specialist education and training to other staff, students and/or patients/clients Undertakes research and leads clinical audits in own specialist area. The postholder will ensures the maintenance of clinical excellence.

The post holder will support the Tier 2 medical rota and will be expected to work on site with an on-call Consultant available.

The Practitioner will work autonomously and be accountable for complex decision making including the assessment, examination and investigation and planning the delivery of care to an undifferentiated ED patient.

The Practitioner will complete the episode of care for patients including paediatric, trauma, resuscitation, mental health, medical, surgical, gynaecological and minor illness presentations up until the point of safe discharge of patient.
