Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, passionate, enthusiastic and caring neonatal nurse to become part of the County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. CDDFT provides care for babies and their families, at both the University Hospital of North Durham and Darlington Memorial Hospital, in dedicated neonatal units that work closely with the Midwifery and Paediatric departments. With 12 cots at UHND and 8 cots at DMH, we provide care for babies and their families from 30 weeks gestation, but also provide stabilistion for critically ill babies prior to retrieval by the regional transport team. Both sites have a well developed transitional care service that is primarily supported by baby support workers which enables babies and their mothers to stay together when reuiring additional support.

We are currently looking for a nurse, who can work effectively within our team of dedicated neonatal nurses. You should possess an RN, RSCN, RN child or RM qualification and the Neonatal QIS qualification essential.

Main duties of the job

We are delighted to advertise the Neonatal Staff Nurse post within County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for dynamic and experienced QIS qualified neonatal nurses to join our the team of experinced neonatal nurses. The postholder will form part of the neonatal team and care for special care and high dependency babies. They will plan the care of the babies, promoting family integrated care and be able to provide a supportive environment for the families within the neonatal service. The appointed nurse will be able to attend emergency situations in the maternity department, as well as the emergency department, of the hospital and be part of the team able to stabilise and care for a preterm, and or sick neonate. They should be able to work autonomously, under the support of the band 6 nurse on duty.
