This is an exciting opportunity to join a large and
innovative team within County Durham and Darlington, with 4500+ deliveries
across sites per year.
We are looking to recruit to a Consultant Obstetrician and
Gynaecologist. ATSM in Fetal medicine or working towards this is desirable.
In addition to day time labour ward cover, our innovative
model, delivers an expansion of the traditional Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Consultant Workforce.
The post holder will participate in the Tier 3
non-resident cover at UHND, currently 1 in 10, planning to move to 1 in 11
with future recruitment.
There will be an opportunity for development in
terms of SIM training and leadership opportunities.
Main duties of the job
The Successful Candidate will provide Fetal Medicine and
Obstetrics services to patients across County Durham and Darlington. There will
also be an element of Gynaecology both in terms of emergency Gynaecology and
elective work although this can be negotiated dependant on interest.
There will be a requirement to attend meetings, including
evidence based guidelines, quality and governance meetings including antenatal
and newborn screening. In addition to internal meetngs there is a requirement
on rotation with the other Fetal Medicine Consultants to attend the Regional
Fetal Medicine Group.
The post holder will take the lead on multiple pregnancy and
provide training in Obstetric ultrasound. In addition training will be provided
to trainee doctors through clinical review of patients and their notes both in
the inpatient and outpatient setting.
There is an expectation of Multidisciplinary
working both internally with colleagues within Obstetrics and Gynaecology, the
Midwifery team and under the Perinatal workstream. Research and audit will form
part of the job plan.
