Job summary

The post-holder will ensure specialist or complex IM&T information is handled effectively.They will investigate specialist or complex IM&T issues such as failure of integration and interfacing and will provide specialist advice across the Trust on issues relating to this.

The post-holder will be responsible for development of and long term maintenance of interfaces between systems using the Trusts Integration Engine or other mechanisms in order to meet Trust business needs. The systems are primarily, but not exclusively the clinical systems required to support patient care provided by the Trust and its associated partner organisations. The scope of the job will also include other systems that require interfacing or integrating with its own local systems or those provided by external agencies which include those provided through the National initiatives and the Local Health Care Community.

Interfacing and integration are the method by which Trust systems communicate and operate with each other.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder ensures specialist or complex IM&T information is processed in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.Where there are failures in the Integration and interfacing of systems, the Post-holder will either support the Integration manager in resolving these problems and/or will be capable to working to support departmental managers to find resolutions independently.

To work closely with appropriate teams and end users to aid in the design and development of suitable integration solutions

The post will directly affect the business processes of clinical staff throughout the Trust.

The post will fulfil a specialist technical role ensuring effective data transfer to and from systems both within and external to the Trust.

The post-holder will be a key specialist technical resource supporting the Systems and Integration Department.

As part of the Systems and Integration team the post-holder will provide technical specialist skills ensuring the successful implementation, ongoing development and support of systems within the Trust and its associated organisations.

The post-holder will provide specialist advice on integration/interfacing strategies and communicate technical requirements to both technical and non-technical staff.

The post-holder will analyse requirements and develop those requirements into both non-technical and technical specifications to ensure effective communication to appropriate teams and individuals.

Responsible for the design, development and maintenance of interfaces between systems provided as part of the National and Local Health Community programmes and any local Trust systems.

To provide a rapid response to interface failure through liaison with suppliers, proposing procedures and, where appropriate, personal action.

The post-holder will develop technical solutions using appropriate technologies to meet agreed specifications using appropriate standards.

Work within good design methodologies ensuring effective robust solutions are designed and implemented.

To design, develop and maintain interfaces required between any local Trust systems or other third party suppliers as appropriate.

To ensure all appropriate documentation is created and maintained for all aspects of work.

Transmission of data to other systems to support the business and clinical needs of the Trust.

To document test plans and carry full and rigorous testing of all work carried out including technical design, operation and disaster recovery procedures.

To implement interfaces as they are developed in such a way as to minimize disruption.

Through the Trusts Data Quality Officer to quality assure all interfaces and to ensure that the data quality is maintained across interfaces.

To provide and develop project reports, plans and other documentation as required to the Integration Manager.

Failure of the interfaces will have a significant and immediate impact on the standard of health care of all acute inpatients, outpatients and casualty patients.

To formally participate in the provision of 1st and 2nd level support of systems as appropriate for the delivery of the service

May be required to undertake planned duties out of normal office hours and other duties, as required, by the Integration Manager.
