Job summary

We are looking to recruit an additional Clinical Educator (Foundation Programme ) to join the Foundation Programme team, who is a Registered Nurse/Health Care Professional to support the foundation programme trainees throughout their training programme.

They will work in partnership with the Clinical Educator who is already in post, the Foundation Tutors and Administrative Team to plan, organise and deliver the mandatory teaching programmes and support the trainees and trainers with the electronic Horus portfolio and their curriculum.

The clinical educator will use high level teaching to deliver teaching and training sessions using a wide variety of methods.

This role also includes the support of trainees while ensuring patient safety and working collaboratively with the wider clinical/AHP's and trainers to ensure a postive learning experience.

Main duties of the job

Regular reviews of the electorinic portfolio, delivering balanced and senstive feedback, using principles of feedback and recognised feedback frameworks

Select and recruit appropriate educators to deliver on educational programmes, providing these educators with suitable learning outcomes and background information in order to deliver effective teaching.

Provide pastoral support and educational advice to trainees and trainers when required

Deliver teaching and including clinical reasoning, topic based teaching, simulation and practical skills sessions and adapt teaching to any specific learning disabilities within groups of learners and advise other educators on required adaptations

Participate in ARCP panels and provide detailed analysis of learner achievements in order to make recommendations on progression of learners

Provide 1:1 and group support for the achievement of learning outcomes and curriculum competencies.

Provide pastoral support including decision making on when to escalate to the FP School or other external services

Support the wider team in areas outside of normal scope of practice

  • Degree in nursing/other relevant subject or equivalent
  • 7307 or other certificate in teaching and assessing
  • Physical skills assessment training (or equivalent) or willing to undertake within first year of the role
  • Evidence of study at level 7 (Masters) level e.g. Postgraduate certificate of clinical/medical education/PGCE or willingness to undertake a Postgraduate Certificate of Medical Education within the first three years of the role
