Job summary

We are looking to recruit an Associate Director of Nursing to join the Senior Triumvirate within the Medicine Care Group for County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will work to provide nursing and clinical governance leadership to this large care group and will contribute to the senior nursing leadership structure of the Trust. They will be expected to create a nursing culture within the Care Group which strives for excellence and promotes the reputation of the profession and the Trust.

Main duties of the job

As one of the most senior nurses in the Trust, the Associate Director of Nursing will be a clinical leader who will be empowered to make decisions that improve outcomes for patients.

The Associate Director of Nursing will be accountable for the nursing workforce within the Care Group. They will develop and implement a workforce plan within the care group that ensures effective leadership and succession planning and will have autonomy to be able to flex that workforce within an agreed standard and funded establishment.

We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

The post holder will report to the Associate Director of Operations and together with the Care Group Director will provide strategic vision, clarity of purpose and oversee a clinically safe and cost effective service within the Care Group.

The Associate Director of Nursing is responsible and accountable for providing comprehensive and robust professional leadership, guidance, advice, support and direction to nurses, midwives and SCPHNs within the Care Group to ensure that patients are managed and cared for effectively, efficiently and safely.   • Registered General Nurse/Midwife with current NMC registration
  • Degree in Nursing/Health related subject
