We have exciting opportunites for senior full time and part
time MSK physiotherapists to join our friendly, supportive and successful CDIMS
MSK team in County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, one of the
largest intergrated health care trusts in the country. The CDIMS service is a
single point of access service for all MSK referrals for the region and
continues to develop e.g recently securing FCP contracts and rheumatology ESPs.
Therefore CDIMS can provide you with many future career opportunities/
experiences.
The current team
comprises of upper limb, lower limb, spinal, A&E, hand and rheumatology
ESPs, FCPS and MSK rehabilitation service, providing a robust training and
supervision framework for all staff.
The post holder has opportunities to develop clinical,
supervisory, and leadership skills with full support. CPD opportunties and a wide
range of MSK experiences are offered which can be tailored to your needs.
A band 5 to band 6 MSK preceptorship programme with full
support is available.
Bank contracts or return to practice honorary contracts can
also be considered.
Flexible base of work discussed at interview. Hours are
available at Peterlee and N Durham.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work with CDIMS team providing evidence based assessment,
treatment and rehabilitation for individuals and patient groups within our gym
settings. Your caseload of patients are referred from both Primary and
Secondary care and include those from the wider MSK Pathway (e.g. First Contact
Practitioners and self-referral pathway).
You will work closely with a band 7 supervisior for support and
alongside ESPs in advancing your clinical skills, knowledge and leadership
skills. Rotational experience is available within different specialities/ sites
- plastics, # clinic, A&E, ACL deficient and reconstruction rehabilitation,
GP referrals, and hydrotherapy according to your work profile. Your individual
experience needs will be discussed/ agreed and tailored within our annual
appraisal framework and peer support.

the CDIMS service you have senior MSK support available and work alongside
specialist ESPs, to escalate patients for further investigation or to discuss
patients with seniors/ ESPs as required. Our senior staff and our robust intranet
physiotherapy site can also provide you with
guidance on all local MSK pathways and protocols. You will have
flexibility within your template for telephone or face to face reviews of your
patients. CDIMS can also help support you to progress to telephone
consultations for New assessments for selected patients traiged into a telephone
slots.
Many CDIMS band 7 physiotherapists
have injection skills on our sites, and are available for case discussions. Appropriate
patients for injections can be booked in designated slots following a shared
decision process with your patients. Assistants band 3 staff are available at
every site to support you to rehabilitate patients, you can refer for
individualised care by providing a plan
or protocol. You will be allocated your own gym time to enable you to access well
equiped gyms so you can rehabilitate individual patients or within a group
setting.
You will be teamed with a band 7
as a supervisor who will support your personal development plan within the
appraisal framework. CDDFT support protected supervision time which is led by the supervisee for your
individual needs. We can arrange rotations to different MSK specialities within
the CDIMS team if you require experience for your MSK work profile or interest.
Rotations are available in plastics, # clinics, gym rehabilitation, GP referrals,
hydrotherapy at University Hospital Durham. Static or rotational Band 6 posts
are also available at other sites for further experience of band 6 staff
members according to personal and service needs.
Shadowing and training is available throughout
the full service with consultants, A&E, plastics, FCPs in GP practices, ESPs
in all specialities, gym rehabilitation and hydrotherapy. This is arranged
within your personal development plan. The department runs In-service training
sessions together with access to learning on e -learning for health. External
courses can be accessed by inclusion onto the annual training needs anaylsis by
the department.
CDIMS use SystmOne for clinical
note keeping - training can be provided using test patients if you are unfamiliar
with this System within your induction program. CDDFT provide a full induction
program which includes mandatory
training together with a local physiotherapy induction tailored to your needs.
Training will also be provided with all CDDFT ICT programs as required. You
will also be provided with you own laptop.
Full training for student
supervision can be arranged with a local university and you would be supported
by a band 7 with students at any site.
You will have access to
rehabmypatient program for individualised exercise prescriptions for your
patients, together with evidenced based leaflets on our intranet produced by
the teams special interest groups. These can be accessed in paper form or
electronic versions according to patients individual needs.

develop leadership skills in conjunction with clinical e.g interviewer,
appraisal training. CDIMS promotes all staff to be involved with quality
improvement projects and promotes future career opportunities.
The department has a track record
for staff wellbeing support following all local CDDFT guidance. You will have

be invited to the North East NHS outdoor wellbeing group. The NENC ICS also
provide a well being hub which all our staff have access to which provide
various proactive help and support solutions depending on needs.
