?We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic midwife to join our highly motivated midwifery team, as part of our Band 6 team responsible forsupporting a woman's journey during the elective caesarean section process.

?This is an exciting secondment opportunity for those midwives who would like to be involved in shaping the future pathway for our planned elective work.

Main duties of the job

?We're looking for midwives who are as passionate as we are about providing the best service possible.

?Within this role you will have the opportunity to support women and their families through the elective caesarean process. Working closely with the Multi-Professional Team you will also be involved with the scheduling and administration process for elective caesarean section.

Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation

Supporting and mentoring junior staff

Working in collaboration with the Flow and Capacity coordinator to review and schedule elective caesarean section requests

Support and liaise with women who are planning a caesarean section, ensuring they are fully prepared for their elective caesareansection journey

Ensure a high standard of Midwifery care is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation andevaluation of care to meet women's needs in accordance with agreed local and National standards and evidence based guideline

Set, monitor and maintain standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care

Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures andguidelines

Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensureseamless care

Promote provision of education and health promotion

Ensures environment of care is safe, well equipped and compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness

Essential

  • Experience in IV additives, venipuncture and Cannulation, Perineal suturing
  • Able to manage /treat obstetric emergencies in hospital/birth unit and community setting
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance and the relevance to practice
  • Confident in teaching and assessing student midwives, midwives and doctors
  • Recent experience of providing care within a maternity inpatient setting.
  • Awareness of changes within Midwifery practice
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
  • Maintains own reflective practice.
  • Demonstrates effective listening skills and communication skills.
  • Ability to implement changes within midwifery practice.
