Job summary

We are looking for someone who has at least 12 months post registration experience and is enthusiastic, motivated and committed. We can promise you it won't be dull! Every day is a learning day with 12 hour shifts our norm, the feedback we get from our fab team is that they really value them and the work life balance it brings.

There isn't much we haven't encountered, but as with everything we do, we do it as a team - dealing with things head on, supporting each other & changing lives.

We have two amazing Emergency Departments, Preston & Chorley, yet one amazing #TeamED vision - This advert is to work at RPH site however at times CDH cover may be required.

Main duties of the job

About us

You'll work alongside Advanced Nurse Clinicians, Emergency Nurse Practitioners, Consultants, Trauma Technicians and Senior Healthcare Assistants who support us all the way. On starting you're assigned a buddy to work alongside you for the first couple of weeks - we get lots of positive feedback about this.

124,000 patients come through our doors yearly, 18,000 of these are children & 700 are major trauma patients as our Preston site is the Regional Major Trauma Centre for the North West. The very distinctive Air Ambulance helicopter can be seen flying in & out of Preston a few times a day - bringing people from across the region to be treated.

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • Appropriate NMC Registration
  • Diploma in Nursing
  • 6 to 12mths experience post registration
  • NMC recognised Mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards following 18 months commencement in post

Desirable

  • Degree
  • Previous Emergency Department experience as a staff nurse

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Recognition of a acutely unwell patient - aims course BLS /ILS
  • To be competent in medication administration
  • General knowledge of safeguarding
  • Time management and leadership skills
  • Willing to expand clinical roleeg IV additives, venepuncture and cannulation
  • Awareness of changes within Nursing practice
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance and the relevance to practice
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
