Job summary

We are delighted to be recruiting for an Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (ANNP) to join our dedicated Neonatal Service. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced neonatal nurse with advanced practice qualifications to contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care for neonates requiring both Level 2 and Level 3 support.

Our neonatal unit is committed to delivering the highest standards of family-centred care, supported by a highly skilled and collaborative multidisciplinary team. As an ANNP, you will play a pivotal role in providing advanced clinical expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of neonates with a wide range of complex needs. You will work both independently and in partnership with colleagues to ensure that every baby receives the very best start in life, while supporting families during what is often a challenging and emotional journey.

Main duties of the job

Working independently on the medical rota (TIER 1/TIER 2 depending on level of expertise and clinical area) to provide 24 hour care as required, with clinical supervision provided by a Consultant Neonatologist.

Holding the emergency bleep for labour ward calls, attending at risk deliveries and carrying out basic and advanced newborn resuscitation where necessary.

Carrying out the examination of the newborn prior to discharge, making appropriate referrals and instigating treatment when required.

Independently prescribing medications within legal requirements.

Utilising contact opportunities with babies and their families for health education and health promotion.

Collaborating with other agencies in determining specific service requirements and working to improve health outcomes

Maintaining competencies in the procedures relevant to neonates

Coordinate, lead and manage the activities of clinical environment on a day to day basis.

To use excellent prioritising and time management skills to meet the unpredictable and conflicting needs of the service

To develop own managerial and administrative functions in conjunction with role developments
