Job summary

Are you looking to develop your physiotherapy assessment and treatment skills in MSK services at a large teaching hospital? Do you want opportunities to work within a Major Trauma Centre? If so, this may be the role for you!

This specialist rotational MSK post offer opportunities in Hand Therapy, Trauma Orthopaedics, Elective Orthopaedics, MSK Outpatients and Occupational Health MSK services. In each 6-month rotation you will be supported by an experienced, established, specialist team and will have opportunities to support in the development of others including graduate therapists and students.

The majority of our outpatient referrals are acute injuries and post-operative, and as such we have close links with our orthopaedic colleagues.

In addition to MSK, you will have opportunity to develop skills in; the delivery of gym classes, delivery of hydrotherapy classes, DSE and workplace assessments, hand therapy and splinting in our outpatient rotations.

The orthopaedic ward rotations include elective orthopaedics at Chorley Hospital, the trauma orthopaedic wards are based at Royal Preston Hospital and include the major trauma ward.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with an aspiration to innovate and improve all aspects of care delivery within the musculoskeletal outpatient physiotherapy services based across two sites at Royal Preston and Chorley District Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

The organisation, clinical management structure and culture provide a supported work environment where you can develop your skills and knowledge and play a key role in the delivery of high quality health care. We have a dedicated Health Academy and learning and development of staff within the trust is very much encouraged and supported.

In recognition of the need for enhanced provision, the Integrated Therapy Service is looking to move towards 7 day working, Elective orthopaedics currently deliver a 6 day service including Saturdays and as such you will be expected to support this model of care.

The role will primarily involve the delivery of therapeutic healthcare in the following areas:

  • MSK Outpatient - General 1:1 Assessment and Treatment.
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Gymnasium Class Rehabilitation - Upper (Shoulder), Lower Limb (ACL & LL) and Spinal
  • Elective Orthopaedics
  • Trauma Orthopaedics
  • Hand Therapy
  • Occupational Health

  • HCPC registration.
  • Degree in Physiotherapy.
  • Evidence of CPD in relevant areas.

Desirable

  • Member of the CSP.
  • Post graduate MSK qualifications.
  • Clinical educator course completed
  • Attendance of relevant post graduate courses

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Experience in the NHS as a Physiotherapist.
  • Varied experience of relevant rotational posts including musculoskeletal outpatients
